I am in the process of quilting this String Star quilt top that I pieced this Spring. I had so much fun piecing this using all (or almost all) my skimpy little scraps of fabric that I just couldn't seem to bring myself to throw away! It was quite a challenge putting together the ring of ten smaller stars to the centre star, but it came together quite nicely in the end. I plan to machine quilt a diamond grid over the entire quilt top except for the inner section. I will hand quilt some feathers in the larger white sections surrounding the centre star, as well as a feather motif in the white diamonds between the stars in the centre ring. It will be nice to complete this project. It really was a lot of fun piecing...I might even try making another quilt the same!

"Rosie's Garden" quilt
Each time I finish a quilt I become more confident. In looking back at my early quilts and wall hangings I can see that I didn't often do much quilting. Now I see that the quilting is an integral part of the beauty of a quilt, so I spend more time on designing and making sure that the quilting is done just right. This quilt, Rosie's Garden, was both machine and hand quilted. The motifs are hand quilted. It took more than 2 years to complete this quilt.

Horsefeathers Quilt
This is one of my first attempts at quilting. My mother and my friend, Noreen, introduced me to quilting a few years ago. At the time I felt that my sewing skills were up to the challenge of paper piecing. Fortunately, it turned out rather well. This pattern is by Linda Hibbert of silverliningsoriginals.com. The original pattern used quite different fabrics that gave the wall hanging an abstract look, so I substituted the creams and browns to make the horses look more real. These beautiful horses were absolutely perfect for my friend who has a passion for, and raises, horses.
